For immediate release: On Monday, Nov. 18, 2019, the American Society of Papyrologists and the Association internationale de papyrologues issued a joint call to endow the future of digital papyrology.
The target for the campaign is 2.5 million USD, a sum which will be managed under the aegis of the Society for Classical Studies and which will support a full-time position dedicated to coordinating the work of the dozens of institutional partners and hundreds of volunteers who contribute to the corpus currently searchable through papyri.info. A generous donor has anchored the initial phase of the endowment drive by committing $500,000 in the form of a matching grant.
For more information on papyri.info, the organization and governance of the campaign and the endowment, institutional partners and individual supporters, and how to contribute, please see the campaign website: supportpapyri.info.
